Following our successful 2015 Facebook Photo competition, our 2016 Spirit of Summer Photo Competition launched earlier this year. With entries now closed and a week of voting ahead, it felt about time that I let you meet the panel. So here are the three fab ladies who will be joining me on the panel to choose our 2016 Spirit of Summer winner!
Thanks to our sponsors Vintage Rocks and The Little Boathouse, we have great prizes on offer. So don’t forget to vote for your favourite photo by midnight on the 11th September. Only the Top 10 will go through to the panel for the final decision – exciting!!
Meet the Panel
Vicki Nicholson – Branding Therapy
Vicki is a creative branding stylist, designing magnetic branding for women in business throughout the world. Using her power of creativity Vicki helps women stand out from the crowd through the use of knock-out visual branding to create desire and interest. Over the last 20 years, Vicki has worked as an Editor of a magazine and Sub-Editor of a newspaper so she knows a thing or two about what photographs work well to give them that ‘pick-up-appeal’. Vicki is also the lady behind the Millie’s Beach Huts branding and inspired our very own ice-cream themed Millie!
“We’re all drawn to visual gorgeousness but what I’m really looking for is a photo that projects real personality. Great images have greatness edge to edge, they are well thought out, and that’s what I would like to see. Overall an image which captures the emotion and the very essence of beach life.”
Emma Cooper – Vintage Rocks
Emma Cooper is the founder of furniture paint business, Vintage Rocks which is based in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. As a creative and lover of colour, Emma has a keen eye for aesthetics. Emma has 2 children and puppy who love the limelight which is lucky as Emma is a self-certified social media addict, taking every opportunity to capture family moments in action with her iPhone. She also shoots and edits all of her own product images so knows a thing or two about shaping an amateur photo into something with more of a professional feel.
“I was delighted to be asked to join the Spirit of Summer panel of judges. I’m looking for that special photo that stops me in my tracks, something that uses colour in a creative way. I’m all for using filters … it’s what digital photography is all about – if you’ve got it flaunt it, I say!”
Amanda Spells – The Little Boathouse
Amanda is the First Mate at The Little Boathouse – a business she started to use her passion for design and producing quality gifts using nautical and nostalgic paper boats.
Taking accurate but also beautiful pictures is not easy, but essential for an online business. Product pictures are one thing, but we also use our photos to tell our story behind the scenes too, to truly capture and share the essence of our family-centric company.
“I will be looking for pictures that capture the joy of the moment and hold it forever, that share and tell me their story of that particular special moment in time.”
